The Yellow Canoe Cafe is a friendly restaurant in Merrickville Ontario that specializes in tasty lunches and desserts. All the food is made fresh in our kitchen, using local ingredients wherever possible.
We offer a broad range of lunch choices including fresh, made to order sandwiches, daily soups, a hot frittata special, and fresh baked savoury scones. Our desserts include Susan's famous Apple Pie and Date Squares, plus Carrot Cake, Chocolate Raspberry Coffee Cake, Raisin Scones (served with jam & whipped cream), plus fresh baked goods and seasonal specials.
Our beverage choices include Ontario VQA wines, draft & bottled beer, and sangria, a wide choice of teas, coffee, and soft drinks & juices.
Our goal is to deliver food that satisfies both the body and the soul, in a friendly, relaxed environment, either in our cozy dining room or on our shaded patio overlooks the Rideau Canal and Merrickville Locks.

We're excited with this latest addition to the cafe. We'll feature a selection of fresh baking available to take out, including many favorites from the cafe menu. Susan's wanted to have a bakery for a long time so this is our first step along the way.
We're also pleased to let you know that we're making most of our own bread for sandwiches now. Andrew has developed a soft herb focaccia bread that's now our new standard. We also have a country white loaf that's the first white bread we figure is fit to eat. He's also working on recipes for a multi-grain and whole wheat loaf. All the bread features an overnight slow ferment to bring the full flavours out of the flours.

Our covered patio is a great place to extend the summer. Even on days with gentle rain you can sit outside and enjoy a meal and listen to the rain on the tin roof. On sunny fall days there's a great mix of sun and shade.
Our Garden Patio is a great place to enjoy lunch, afternoon tea & dessert, or a drink with a cheese and fruit plate. Our covered section provides nice shade on sunny days and also means you don't have to be chased inside by a bit of rain.
